What Bird is this ?

American Kestrel.

On a quick trip to the wooded swamp,
this bird caught my eye. It flew quickly
to a distant perch. I thought at first it
might a dove because of the way it flew.
But then it was to big to be a dove. I noticed
the colors, very beautiful. I though it was
way to far away for my camera and lens
I said what the heck why not try. Nothing
ventured nothing gained so I started
snapping off four pictures. The first is
without cropping the second is cropped.

Little Yellow Butterfly

These are so very difficult to
shoot, they always hang
upside down when perched,
they are not still for very long,
and their wings are folded together
when they are feeding.

Coastal Pleasures.

Insects make beautiful subjects for
the camera, as do flowers. Flower
markings are like runway landing
lights for bees, they guide the bees
to the flower's pollen grains.

Butterflies aid in pollination also
but they are not as efficient as
bees. The butterfly's body never
comes in contact with the flower
and usually chooses flat flower's
as a landing spot, so it collects
only nectar it needs for fuel, and
contact is minimal.

Canoe Trip

Deffinition of Canoe.
any of various slender, open boats, tapering to a point at both ends, propelled by paddles or sometimes sails and traditionally formed of light framework covered with bark, skins, or canvas, or formed from a dug-out or burned-out log or logs, and now usually made of aluminum, fiberglass, etc.
