I came upon this Heron
while wandering the dike
out back of our Home. It
was grooming itself and
did not mind being my taking
it's photograph. It posed for
quite a while.
While watching it, I was hoping
to see it catch a fish, but it was
content to pick off flying insects
out of the air.

very preety bird, i was looking through my archives yesterday and found a few pictures of one of these. they are great fisherman.
I've never seen this bird in private. Yes, it would be great if this bird were in mood to catch a fish; that would be a fantastic photo. But maybe next time. :-)
